Parents
And Friends Association
PAFA is a formally organized committee of parent and school volunteers. Throughout the school year, we work together to instill a sense of community at SCIS-Hongqiao. PAFA provides many opportunities for parents to get involved with the school, make new friends, and continue their own education through a variety of parent activities.

PAFA Activities
PAFA organizes many activities for the school’s children and their families. Some of our activities include:
- Welcoming New Families to SCIS and Shanghai through our Parent Orientation Welcome Coffee Series. Meet our welcoming committee!
- Hosting Information Coffees
- Organizing Parent Field Trips
- Collecting and Selling gently used school uniforms at our Uniform Exchange Sales held in September, November, and April.
- Running the kid’s Passport Club. This is a program held throughout the year, where children learn about world geography. Parent volunteers come to the school once a month to test and reward children for the assigned countries.
- Recruiting Class Moms to work with our teachers on special class activities
- Sponsoring the weekly Cultural Exchange Group (CEG) where parents meet in a casual setting to share information about school, compare cultures, meet school staff, make friends and practice/support speaking English. This group meets on Tuesdays from 10:00 - 11:30 at the school. Often, members of the group extend their time together and explore local restraunts to learn about food from various countries.
- Organizing social events throughout the school year, such as The Back to School Party, Cultural Craft-making Festival, International Food & Family Fun Day, and End of Year Party.
