Britta Kortemeyer

Hi, my name is Britta Kortemeyer and I am from Germany. I have two daughters aged 6 and 8 who are both going to SCIS. We have been in Shanghai since December 2005. I was especially thrilled about coming to China, because I am a translator for Chinese, Russian, English and French. Apart from living a year in Taiwan right after graduation, I have had never again the opportunity to practice my Chinese. Before the kids came I traveled to many places around the world and my favorite has always been South-East Asia. Now I am very pleased to see my girls making friends with children from all over the world. That is what I love so much about this international community at SCIS. Besides meeting people from different cultures, I enjoy reading, playing board games with friends and taking our dog out for a nice calm walk. I coordinate the ambassadors from the different countries, i.e. the International Committee, because it is the individual cultures that make up this diversed international environment and it is very useful to know who to approach for specific country-related issues.
