SCIS operates on Three campus locations: Shanghai ( Hongqiao Campus, Pudong Campus) and Hangzhou International School.
SCIS has a full term of accreditation with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
SCIS was founded in 1990 by the International Schools Foundation. ISF operates six international schools: three in Shanghai, and one each in Hangzhou, Jakarta, and Cape Town. ISF is a non-profit (501 C-3) organization located in Lansing, Michigan, and operated by an appointed Board of Governors.
SCIS currently has over 1000 children enrolled in preschool through grade 12, across four campus locations.
Over 40 nationalities are represented among the SCIS community.
SCIS has a dedicated and talented group of educators on each campus. They are a diverse team who come mainly from the USA, Canada, England, New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa.
SCIS is based on the American system (grade levels, similar structure of class offerings, daily schedule, yearly calendar); School hours for student attendance is 8:00 – 3:00, Mondays through Fridays.
The curriculum is international (based on an American framework, but incorporating the standards from many Western countries: USA, England, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand); Materials are largely from the U.S., but also include materials from other countries.
